2015 Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise
The 21st Woodward Ave. Dream Cruise is over. This year we were proud to be one of it’s sponsors. Each year I talk to lots of people, car people from every where show up to be a part of this huge event. You don’t…
have to own a classic car or even one of new hot rods to enjoy this week long cruise. Yes the official cruise date is the 15th, but Woodward is hopping all week long. I love swapping stories about cruising Woodward from the early 60’s to around 71. Love to talk about all the fun we had back then. Most all us boomers can relate, whether they were from the area, or n it’s the love of the cars that bind us together.
There is so much to do during the week, you can hang out at 13 Mile Rd. and look at all the vehicles there, and swap stories with their owners, or just sit out by the road, and take photos and watch the cruisers. When you get hungry there are plenty of places to eat, my favorite is The Blarney Stone Pub. They have my vote for the best burgers in town.
It seems like each year the cruise gets more & more coverage from the news, both in the print and TV part. They now have a good corporate sponsorships. I know some people may not like that, but this cruise takes thousands of dollars to put on, and without their participation who knows how long this could go on.
You can’t forget the parade that goes from 12 Mi. Rd. from Woodward to Greenfield. Berkley shuts down 12 Mile and after the car parade they have a band & lots of things for the kids to do. This is a perfect way to end the night, and get up the next day for the official cruise day.
